Sandeep Rath

I am an Assistant Professor of Operations Management at the Indian School of Business. Previously, I was on the faculty at the Kenan-Flagler Business School, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
My approach to research involves close collaboration with hospitals, providers, and technology firms to pinpoint critical issues related to resource allocation that arise in healthcare systems. I use a range of predictive and prescriptive methods, including data-driven optimization, large-scale linear and integer programming, robust optimization, machine learning, dynamic programming, and causal inference. My model-based approach culminates in actionable solutions and valuable insights for healthcare administrators.
I have collaborated with technology firms and healthcare systems such as Veterans Health Los Angeles, UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center, UNC Health, Opflow, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. I also consult for healthcare technology firms working to improve digital analytics tools for healthcare providers in India and the U.S.
My research has been a finalist for the INFORMS Applied Analytics Award and has won the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School Bullard Faculty Research Impact Award.
I have taught courses in Operations Management, Prescriptive Analytics, Service Operations, and Healthcare Operations at both the Indian School of Business and UNC Kenan-Flagler.
